Sunderland School

Henderson Creek have been collaborating with Sunderland Primary School for a number of years on their adopted area of the stream.

They’ve created some incredible drawings of two weeds, bindweed and cleavers, that the students helped remove from native plants. To help the kids remember them Simon Grant, Community Environment Coordinator, nicknamed the weeds “Mr. Sticky” aka cleavers – because it sticks to plants, and “The Strangler” aka bindweed – because it climbs up plants and strangles/smothers them. After the session the kids took some samples back to the classroom and created these fantastic drawings.
