Our Rongoā Garden

Nestled on the banks of the Opanuku Stream is Te Maara Oranga. Students and teachers from Henderson High School worked to create this special rongoā garden – a garden containing plants used (and still used) by Maori in their traditional way of life with a special emphasis on medicinal plantings.

With funding from the Council arts team, a carver worked with the students in the creation of a Tōtara pou for the area, along with a carved stone. The area is on the award-winning PTS cycleways and is enjoyed by the public and for the delivery of rongoā Maori workshops.
